The rather wonderful and mostly consistent Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy came in various forms after debuting as a radio show in 1978. From the greatness of the early radio series and books to the slightly more forgettable movie version there is so much to love here.
The movie version did however produce a little listened off shoot. In the republishing of the audiobooks, new versions were produced. The first book is narrated by the much lauded Stephen Fry – famous for his audio book narrations. The other books in the series however were narrated by star of the 2005 film Martin Freeman.
His reading is exceptional in many important respects, but especially in his accents. He takes a fresh approach and brings a whole new style to these nearly forty year old books. They are definitely worth a listen.
