The Final Word

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an independent nonprofit organisation that promotes press freedom, has produced a book called, The Last Column.

It features the last assignment of some of the 1,337 journalists that have been killed in the line of duty since 1992.

As Joel Simon, the CPJ’s executive director, tells Time Magazine, “Murder is the ultimate form of censorship.” These brave journalists perform a vitally important role and they deserve this recognition and more.

Hardcopy versions of the book can be viewed in select locations around the world and can be viewed on line here.
