Apple’s HomePod Mini seems to have hit that gifting sweet spot with early delivery times already extending out after going on presale this week.
Its first appeal is the more affordable price. It’s not quite as a financial commitment as the full sized HomePod.
The intercom feature is nice although I can imagine frustrated family members turning that off.
It’s also a lower barrier of entry to get into the Homekit voice control products.
Like the iPod mini it’s looking to be a hit. And just as the iPod mini did, I can see a range of colours in the HomePod mini’s future.
Whether the HomePod is technically good is another matter altogether – Siri’s abilities are not market leading – but the marketing and motivation to get one is up to Apple’s usual high standards.
