No Crowd Roars

The news of Japan Olympics head honcho Yoshiro Mori’s resignation – due to rather embarrassing comments – shouldn’t be surprising given his brief tenure of Japan’s prime minister was equally gaffe prone.

Adding this to the list of growing problems for the organising committee, the Olympics are in real danger of even occurring.

With the Australian Open tennis tournament acting as a litmus test for large sporting events, the event in Melbourne is facing the likelihood of its second week being without spectators after a flare up of local covid cases. The organising committee in Tokyo will be watching closely how it’s dealt with.

The Olympics however is a much larger event and the prospect of crowds must surely be nearly off the table if still there at all. Keeping the thousands of competitors virus free will be an already monumental task to win.
