A revolution that was not televised, but thankfully filmed was the Harlem Cultural Festival – A series of concerts that occurred in Morris Park in 1969.

The footage of the festival was largely unseen until The Roots bandleader Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson unearthed it and turned it into the documentary, The Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised).
The film documents some extraordinary music during an extraordinary time.
With many legendary performers, speakers and people getting things done, it’s a wonderful important document to history.
