While it is well known that the lockdown has effected the hospitality industry, the focus has been on the workers in those industries. However it also effects the suppliers of that industry – Namely food growers. One such group of growers is strawberry famers.
While food consumption shifted to the home, strawberries were left on the shelf as they’re more an impulse purchase. Shoppers like what they see of the attractive fruit, but with online shopping, they’re not seeing them.
Grower groups are now looking to campaign for more usage of the sweet treat and calling on people to get inventive with their strawberry usage.
Let’s hope they get their serve.
