Facebook’s outage last month wasn’t much more than a mild inconvenience, but it did show organisations’ dependency on the service.

At the very least organisations should reduce their communications reliance on one social media organisation. Instead, spread it across a large number of them that are independent from each other.

Ideally organisations should use a medium that they control themselves and not be subject to the whims of these large businesses.
