The inaugural La Prairie Art Award has been awarded to Melbourne photographer Atong Atem.
Atem uses a “decidedly African, postcolonial aesthetic style” to inform her photography.
The award champions women artists in Australia by supporting the development or expansion of a new body of work and it’s off to a great start.
