With increasing pressure from governments cigarette companies have moved to developing nations to maintain revenues. Facebook, which is facing similar pressure and decrease interest, is also turning to developing nations to maintain its presence.
As an example, Meta is investing in fibre optics in Nigeria.
The regulation is looser in African countries and Meta will be keen to work there with less scrutiny on the harm the social media giant is doing to communities.
