Marvel-lous Day

It’s been a big day with Disney releasing a swathe of trailers and other tidbits of upcoming projects.

Disney has a formidable stable, but this bureau wonders if these will strike a chord with audiences.

It’s great to see some more diversity in the line up, but whether viewers and their dollars will give themselves to this phase as much as the did in the Avengers era of the business remains to be seen.

Black Comments

Scarlett Johansson and Disney are setting lawyers at each other over cinema and streaming rights of Black Widow.

Disney’s attack on Johansson stinks of gendered criticism and equity campaigners Time’s Up agrees.

The issue will probably end with a deal well wrapped in an NDA, but Disney really should back off with those sort of comments.

Block Announcement Buster

Disney’s announcement of its upcoming projects was truly extraordinary.

This gives them their plan for how they will be printing their money for the next few years.

They have shrugged off the box office wasteland of 2020 are are full movies ahead for the next few years.

All of the announcements were of the extension of existing franchises. It would have been nice to see some more completely original content, although the adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone looks intriguing.
