The lockdowns would have turned many to reading books, but the restrictions prevented them from doing one of a reader’s favourite things to do: Go to a library. With restrictions easing, that hobby can soon return and photographer Robert Dawson has captured many of them to celebrate these well-read institutions.

From the beginning of this century Dawson has been chronicling the great and not so great libraries of the world.

His work culminated into the book, The Public Library: A Photographic Essay which has been picked up by the Library of Congress.

Popped Up Books

With New Zealand forcing themselves back in lockdown, New Zealanders will be back to less social activities for the next few days (weeks?).

For the well read, that means more reading and Wellington Library has opened up their pop up library that will be perfect for this.

The initiative was originally to build resilience against earth quakes. The pandemic has turned that page and introduced another use for them.
