The best thing to do with garbage is to convert it into something useful. Swiss Furniture brand, Vitra has done just that. They turned garbage into something to sit on.
Vitra have produced the Tip Ton RE, its first chair made from materials recovered from household recycling.
The chair design has been around since 2011 and this new design is made from metal and plastic waste collected through Germany’s recycling system.
As part of the designer’s recycling efforts, Vitra supplies the chair to schools and libraries, as well as for home office and dining settings.
Furniture giant Ikea has taken the welcome step of launching a recycling system.
Send in the old furniture and Ikea will look into what can be re-sold or recycled. Donors will be given vouchers up to 50% of the original value depending on the condition of the piece.
So if you could not chair less about some unwanted furniture, Ikea has just the right place for it to make it sofa so good.
