Okay, let me get this out of the way. I’m not a huge fan “The Matrix” franchise. I liked the first film but don’t hold it up as a classic the way many do. The second was a movie of three absolutely breathtaking action sequences and not much else. The third installment was a mess […]First Glance: “The Matrix Resurrections” — Keith & the Movies

In that sense, it is a film that attracts the attention of people from many different walks of life. I would like to evaluate this movie from every angle. This week saw the release of a trailer for the next instalment of The Matrix.
The Wachowskis are undoubtedly visual stylists geniuses, but apart from the neo-noir debut, Bound, I have found their output unsatisfying. The thoughtful original Matrix didn’t live up to its hype and the subsequent sequels went down hill from there in a mess of indecipherability.
The other subsequent works are sprawling, but their flourishes felt overblown.
They’ve done great things, to be sure, but they’d be even greater if they had a decent script to deal with.
And while the original film lends itself to deep analysis it has also unfortunately lent itself to tin foil hat wearing.
Will this film bring them back to a stage they deserve? The answer to that will be seen later this year.
